What’s going on with that feature film you shot over the summer we hear you ask? Well, it may come as a surprise to learn it takes more than a couple of months to edit a feature film (usually it takes us 8-10 months). That said, we’re making incredible progress and currently have a solid rough cut, with audio added, so now comes the fiddly, tweaking portion of the edit. Tough decisions on what to cut back to shorten runtime, adding sound foley, getting audio well balanced throughout, then music (Sebastian Moody again), sound design, colour grade…plenty left to go.
We’ve been exceptionally fortunate so far for two reasons. One, our Leeds-based sound designer Ashley Tendekai has been ready and raring to go from the offset and we now have the first 9 minutes locked in, with great sound and picture set for a near-final cut. This was energising once it happened to say the least, as sitting daily to chip away at the mammoth task of editing a feature can become tedious at times. Second reason, we’ve run into no major obstacles in the edit; all audio and visuals have been top notch, so that’s a relief.
